Cat + Paul

When the leaves start to turn that golden hue and the hills sprawl with an emerald green I get a little smile on my face and a quickening in my step as it usually means its April and one of my favourite months of the year. It is home to my birthday but that isnt why, its because it usually hosts Easter, the mornings are a little crisper so I can start to wear scarfes and don my slippers again. Its when the light shines with a pure golden hue that is divine to see and a joy to shoot. Autumn weddings are some of my favourite, filled with so much natural beauty and Cat and Paul’s wedding at Goldings Winery was so breathtakingly crafted that everywhere I turned I was inspired, refreshed and smiling at the sense of love and laughter that surrounded this entire day.

From drinks with the boys, to the laughing with the girls in the morning, the most adorable page boy, wild attacking bees,  to the exquisite taste and detail of everything chosen to reflect and celebrate this day, the stolen moments, wide smile and firsts as man and wife this wedding was a delight and I am thrilled to share it with you.

I hope you enjoy

Lauren + Craig

So today was my first official day of leave. It was my first day of rest and I cancelled my massage/facial to run around delivering messages in bottles that carry some of the most gorgeous images that have lit up my screen recently. After a mini realisation that I am a workaholic I delivered my last USB to two lovely peeps that I also get to call friends, drove home, packed for a winter beach getaway, switched on the state of origin and between watching the blues take victory I decided to spend my first night of holidays buying new blog software to make getting these photos to you quicker… Thanks blogstomp! Then I decided to test it out and thought the last wedding I hand delivered tonight should  the first one I share. If only to give Lauren and her teacher friends a break from report writing.

When two of your friends decided to spent their lives as husband and wife its pretty special. When they ask you to capture it all it just sends you over the top with giddiness and excitement. The 18 month wait for this day was however painful. I just wanted that autumn day to roll around. It seemed like forever for that date to roll around so I can only imagine how long it seemed for the bride and groom Lauren + Craig. It was worth the wait. Every second of it because this day was just perfect.

Filled with friends, family and two very in love people. Glen Ewin’s pulp shed was a perfect backdrop for this well awaited wedding. Lauren was a dream to photograph and Craig what can I say… You nailed it! Every frame I shot left me swooning, smiling, laughing, and they were just the smile booth shots. Don’t even get me started on what you are about to see below!

It’s a little piece of my two friends and their love story and I am thrilled to share it with you.

Now I am going to sign up to workaholics anonymous and hope you enjoy this lovely little wedding.

Kathy + JD

I don’t often get personal in my blog posts, I usually tell you about all the glorious details of the day and at this particular wedding there were so many. This DIY wedding was stunning, I LOVED it. I mean hello there was a Royal Copenhagen ice cream cart, my dream wedding idea! Today however I am writing from the heart.

I have always had a big place in my heart for Kathy and her family. We were best buddies as little 11 year olds and her family opened their home and hearts to me. They were the first Christian family I knew and the love they showed me was the first glimpse I had as to what God’s love was like. When I first met Kathy I was a brat. I was the new girl at school and thought I would ‘fit in’ by being mean. I was horrible, truly horrible! Kathy was one of the girls I was mean to. Rather than fighting back she turned the other cheek and loved me.

Looking back I think it was the grace of God on my life as by the next year at school we were best friends and I was a constant feature at their family farm. I have so many great memories that include this family and their part in my life was a true gift. At the time I never knew just how great this gift was and how eternally it stretched.

I bumped into Kathy about six months after I gave my life to Christ, I was 18 and overjoyed. I told her about the last six months in my life and she was super excited. It’s a memory that sticks with me as clear as day. She told me how she must tell her mum Kay and then shared that every week their family would pray for me that I would one day know God’s love. I had no idea that they had done that for me and was so thankful for their faithfulness and their love for God that overflows into wanting that love for others. So being asked to photograph this wedding I was thrilled. I was so thankful to be able to capture and give back a little bit of the love that Kathy and her family had showered on me.

To be there on her wedding day, a day of love and God’s grace was a true delight. It was intimate and serene affair filled with loved ones. As the sun streamed down people clapped as these two wed and the celebration continued throughout the afternoon on the stunning grounds of Waverly Estate, mostly by the pool, it was 42 degrees after all.

So I am delighted to share the wedding of a girl who introduced me to God’s love and the man she said ‘I Do’ to.

I hope you enjoy

Madeleine + Eddy

On the 7th day of Christmas my true love gave to me seven sweet touches, six sangrias, five reasons to smile, four spinning wheels, three white flowers, two pink flamingos and a macaroon wedding tree.

I had such a blast at Madeleine + Eddy’s engagement shoot earlier this year. They are such a sweet couple and were so excited to be getting married. Their love for each other shone through and while chatting in the lead up to their wedding I became particularly excited for their big day. Madeleine and her sister Mable had put so much thought into this sweet day that I knew I would be in photographic love. So here is seven sweet things I loved about their day.

–       Toby, the cutest bow tie wearing King Charles Cavalier around

–       Garden receptions with Mt Lofty as the stunning backdrop

–       The decorative details from kraft paper wrapped tables to tear drop vases hanging from the tree tops to water for each of the guests in honour of all of Toby’s four legged friends.

–       Unfrosted ombre cakes

–       Nap time – the flower girl and father of the bride needed a little rest so had a mid afternoon siesta

–       Penfolds Wines for guests to sign as an alternative to a guest book

–       Madeleine and Eddy whose sweet love for each other lit up my camera and my heart.

I hope you enjoy this sweet little wedding

Verity + Tom

On the 2nd day of Christmas my true love gave to me two pink flamingos and a macaroon wedding tree.

It’s 6am and as the sun rises and the birds chirp I am awake and bursting at the seams to show you Tom + Verity’s wedding that was held at their farm. Held in their converted wood shed and set into a backdrop of rolling hills and glistening pink and yellow fields this wedding was an absolute dream. The detail gave Lochie and I hours of fun to photograph and so did kids who played merrily on hay bails and amongst the trees. Everywhere you looked there was a detail to admire, a view to take in or an expression to capture. It was my kind of wedding, in fact its probably the closest wedding that I have attended or photographed to what I would do on my big day, and yes I may be taking an idea or twenty from you guys.

This wedding truly captured the love these two have for each other and those who attended. Everyone who was invited was also involved, from making flower wreaths for the girls to wear in their hair, everyone who camped out for the weekend, to all the musicians and bands being friends of the couple (special mention to the ukulele group, you girls were a hit). You could feel the love on this land and that this day was about a celebration of two people who open their arms wide, invest themselves and love deeply.

From the stroll to the top of the hill to the ceremony and the bride and groom arriving on a tractor to bands playing on the back of a pick up truck while friends laughed around bon fires every moment of this day had soul and was a dream to be part of… So forgive this very long blog post I couldn’t  choose between all the photos!

Enjoy,

Carly xoxo
